ROAD CLOSURE PUBLIC MEETING AT LES ECHELONS - Thursday 21st June 2018 at 7.00pm

Under the Ordinance, "Ordonnance General Relative aux Routes, et Chemins, 1840", the Constables of St Peter Port are required to call a public meeting to register any opposition to the proposal to close a certain area of the public highway to create a landscaped area in front of the Havelet Waters development (the old Guernsey Brewery site). A report will then be furnished for the Royal Court.

Hedges & Streams

HEDGE CUTTING & STREAM CLEARING By Law in Guernsey, all kinds of growth bordering and overhanging a public road, footpath or lane, must be cut back during the first 2 weeks of June and the last 2 weeks of September. All cut material must be removed immediately. Hedges must be cut in declivity ( leaning backwards) There is a £50 fine for non compliance and £5 per day thereafter, which includes the removal of the cuttings. Constables and Douzeniers will carry out inspections after the 15th June and report any infringements to the office which will then be followed up with calls and warning letters and ultimately, a Civil Penalty Notice which imposes a £50 fine. All controlled stream are required by Law to be cleared of any vegetation and other obstructions by 15th June and 30th September each year. Inspections by the Douzaine and Constables will take place after these dates and any defaulters will be reported to the States Trading Supervisory Board who will take further action if necessary. The above fines will apply.

The latest edition of the parish magazine The Townie has been released and is available in print and as a digital document on this website. This issue is packed with useful information including the cruise schedule and 'What's On' calendar of upcoming local events. Updates in support of the new Community Toilet Scheme, The Guernsey Alzheimers Association and local community Policing are included. Articles of interest include 'Love La Vallette', our local open air bathing pool, the 'Vrangue Stream', St Peter Port’s very own Ford and the wonderful William Morris windows of St. Stephen’s Church.
