Did you spend your two hours of lockdown exercise time exploring every nook and cranny of your local area? Do you care deeply about how well-run and well-presented your parish is? Do you wonder how your rates are spent?

Right now, in every parish in Guernsey at least three Douzeniers are coming to the end of their term of office. Adding up all those Douzeniers, plus the Constables, that means that more than 45 parish positions will be advertised in the Gazette Officielle on October 9th.

The Constables and the parish staff are responsible for the day-to-day administration of the parish. As a Douzenier, your minimum commitment is a meeting once a month on a Monday evening to review what's happening on behalf of the parishioners. How involved you get beyond that is up to you but there are plenty of opportunities to support the Constables and get involved in sub-committees, depending on your interests and skills.

Nominations are due by 4pm on Monday 26th October and the elections will take place at parish meetings across the island on the evening of Wednesday 4th November.
